Safe Shop Hop
2020 has all of us thinking more about our own health and safety as well as the health and safety of those we interact with each day. Local businesses have rapidly adapted to give their customers the safest shopping experience possible. After months of serving customers via online orders, curbside delivery, and contactless purchase, downtown businesses in Harlan and Cumberland are excited to welcome you back in person.
The live music will take place at the Harlan Center Plaza but no seating will be provided. We invite you bring your own lawn chair or camping chair and recommend utilizing all pandemic guidelines to stay safe. The line up includes:
You can shop with confidence as shop owners and event volunteers encourage social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, health monitoring, and store capacity. Spend money with your friends and neighbors as they reopen our local restaurants and shops. Show them how much you've missed with them and how much you appreciate their efforts to thrive through a difficult time!
The Safe Shop Hops are made possible through the Healthy Downtowns Initiative by CEDIK in partnership with One Harlan County, Harlan Tourism, Cumberland Tourism, Tri-City Heritage Development Corporation, and the Mountain Training Network. In addition to funding to promote the Safe Shop Hop, businesses also had the opportunity to apply for mini-grants to make their businesses safer for customers in the Covid-19 era. 20 businesses throughout Harlan County cities were able to purchase cleaning supplies, buy PPE, cover Covid-19 related expenses, make facility upgrades, or obtain equipment to provide the safest experiences possible.
