Located in downtown Harlan, this shop isn’t just sassy, it’s also a little bit…spooky!
Nestled in the heart of downtown Harlan, the sunflower-yellow, three-story building known as Sassy Trash holds more than just the creative wares of local artisans—it holds secrets of the past, mysterious whispers, and unexplained phenomena that leave visitors with a sense of both awe and unease. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, this historic building has transformed over the years, now home to 32 mountain artisans’ creations. Yet, its history is layered with unexplained occurrences that have made it one of the focal points of Harlan’s haunted lore.

Bazaar Encounters featuring Sassy Trash
In an episode of Bazaar Encounters, a renowned paranormal documentary series, a team of investigators set out to uncover the truth behind the hauntings at Sassy Trash. Using a range of ghost-hunting equipment, including EVP recorders, infrared cameras, and motion detectors, they captured compelling evidence that supports the claims of ghostly presences within the walls of this eclectic store.
It is said that there are several entities that haunt this location. Including several entities that like to tease another one of the entities by “dinging” a bell to annoy one of the spectres.
