Appalachian Haints

October 27, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

The Harlan County Arts Council is making plans for the Oct. 27th APPALACHIAN HAINTS night at the Harlan Depot. Come for a FREE night of delicious food, including Autumn Appetizers, a Chili Dinner with all the Fixins, and then some decedent Devilish Desserts! During Appetizer time, complete with Apples and Caramel, Pecan Tassies, and Fruit & Cheese, enjoy Ghost Stories by local Appalachian Journalist Jennifer McDaniels, Kentucky Storytelling Association Member and Folklore Professor Theressa Osborne, and Communications Scholar Megan Louise Duff of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College. During the Main Dinner Course, enjoy Chili & The Fixins and Mountain Lore & Legends. Cumberland Gap Natiomal Historic Park Ranger Dr. Lucas Wilder will talk about Appalachian Anomalies, and Matthew Delph of the Mountain Empire Cryptid Research Organization will relay the harrowing story of the Vampire of Big Stone Gap. When it’s time for Devilish Desserts, popular Cryptid Podcaster Justin Decker (Paranormal Roundtable, Skookum Sessions ) will share Dogman sightings and accounts, and Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Researcher Lloyd Davis will share stories about America’s most elusive beast – Sasquatch. The night of Appalachian Haints will end with local ghost hunting team Paranormal Chaos presenting an intro on ghost hunting techniques to those interested. Marcella Chadwick of Paranormal Chaos will share her fascinating haunted collection, and team member Jimmy Blanton will talk about ghost hunting devices such as EMF Meters, Spirit Boxes, Digital Thermometers and Thermal Cameras. More information will be shared soon on an actual Ghost Hunt the public is invited to attend that will end the night. We will soon be creating an APPALACHIAN HAINTS Facebook Event Page where detailed information of this Harlan County Halloween happening will be shared. This is a FREE Harlan County Arts Council Event with the purpose of promoting Appalachian arts and community cultural enrichment. For more information, please contact the Harlan County Arts Council or Jennifer McDaniels.
