It’s prom season and nothing says prom night like proud parents snapping dozens (or hundreds or thousands or millions) of pictures before teens make their way to prom. We’ve put together some of our favorite photo spots in Harlan County to make sure you get the best backdrop for those memories!
–Kingdom Come State Park– Take advantage of the sweeping mountain views as you stand at the crest of Pine Mountain in your prom finest! Feeling playful? You might also stop for some action shots on the playground or taking a swing at mini-golf.
–Camp Blanton– This former Boy Scout camp provides a scenic lake, bridges across babbling brooks, a stone waterfall to act as a backdrop for your photos. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, step into Blanton Forest and pose among the ancient trees.
Highsplint Lake- This gem is hidden away but offers a beautiful lake surrounded by trees and mountains. The fishing dock might be just the right spot for those snapshots.
–Martins Fork Lake– Are you looking for a beach feel in your photos? Put your toes in the sand at Martins Fork Lake. You’ll also find great views of the water and lovely spots around the grounds for pictures!
-Downtown Harlan- You’ll find colorful murals along with unique architecture for your photographs. Take advantage of beautiful stone or brick walls. Gather with your friends on outside stairs. Stand beneath the bright umbrellas in umbrella alley. Before you go home, get one last pic under the lights on Main Street.
Please always be respectful of property and ask permission as necessary before doing your photo shoot. Have a fun, safe, and memorable prom season!
